"The hill named High and Over has a white horse (top left). This hill is in East Sussex, near the village of Alfriston. The rising and falling of the waves sweep through all the Downs, which after all are formed from the tiny creatures of the seabed pushed up into a great dome and gradually eroded
smooth by wind and water. High and Over has been eroded by the Cuckmere River at its base, which used to carry much more water. The hill is concave, shaped like an ampitheatre." J.W.
